ECOLAB INC. does not become simple just because ECL looks tidy. [' Ecolab Inc. isn't just another soap-and-water story. The market can compress a company into four letters, but the real story still has departments, customers, product choices, capital needs, margins, competitors, and the occasional executive sentence trying to sound heavier than it is. The honest opening stays with the operating record: what ECOLAB INC. actually sells, what the filings and cash line show, and which disclosed number would move ECL from a described claim to a proven one (source: public profile, https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/31462/000001961726000265/xslSCHEDULE_13G_X02/primary_doc.xml).

Ecolab Inc. isn’t just another soap-and-water story. It’s a $25 billion balance sheet company with $4.07 billion in revenue for Q1 2026, $432.6 million in net income, and $1.52 in diluted EPS. The firm also spent $348.5 million on capital expenditure while increasing inventories by $47.3 million and taking $27.5 million in restructuring charges. That’s the reality behind the glossy sustainability pages: a business that moves a lot of liquid chemicals, hires and fires people, and writes cheques to consultants while promising to save the planet.

What Ecolab actually does is sell water, hygiene, and infection-prevention solutions to businesses that can’t afford a single outbreak, a single fine, or a single wasted litre. Its customers include Sysco, Sodexo, and Moeve’s San Roque Energy Park, where Ecolab’s circular water solutions reportedly recycled 317 million gallons annually and cut freshwater extraction by 39%. The case studies are impressive: better water use, less waste, happier regulators. The trouble is, Ecolab’s own inventory rose by $47.3 million in the same quarter, and its Q1 2026 restructuring charges climbed to $27.5 million from $39.4 million a year earlier. Savings for the planet, costs for the P&L.

The numbers come straight from Ecolab’s 10-Q for the quarter ending 31 March 2026. Revenue from contracts with customers, excluding tax, was $4.07 billion. Net income attributable to the parent was $432.6 million. Operating income was $622.0 million. Cash and cash equivalents stood at $519.8 million, while net cash provided by operating activities was $445.9 million. Stockholders’ equity was $10.00 billion against liabilities of $15.01 billion. Diluted weighted average shares outstanding were 283.7 million, and diluted EPS was $1.52. Capital expenditure was $348.5 million, R&D expense for the full year 2025 was $202.0 million, and inventories net were $1.57 billion, up $47.3 million from the prior quarter. Special items in product and equipment cost of sales totalled $11.3 million, and restructuring charges were $27.5 million.

Ecolab’s sustainability promise is real, but the operational bill is too. The company’s ‘People, Planet and Business Health’ page outlines its mission to improve water conservation, operational performance, and productivity through outcome-based solutions. Case studies with Sysco, Sodexo, and Moeve show measurable gains: water recycling, energy savings, and safer food-contact surfaces. Yet the 10-Q shows rising inventories, rising restructuring costs, and insider trading activity on 2 July 2026. The gap between the pitch and the filing trail is measurable-and it’s widening.

The company’s latest sustainability case studies are available on its official news rails: Sysco partnership outcomes, Sodexo water and energy reductions, and Moeve’s circular water success at San Roque Energy Park. These pages prove the company has customers and projects, but they don’t prove margin sustainability or execution discipline. For that, the 10-Q is the harder read. The sustainability stories are compelling; the filings are candid. The market can decide which story it prefers.

Ecolab’s 10-Q filing for Q1 2026 is the primary source for the financials cited above. The company’s sustainability and success stories are hosted on its official product and news rails. Insider trading activity is recorded in multiple Form 4 filings dated 2 July 2026, while the 13G filing dated 16 July 2026 updates a passive investor’s stake. These sources collectively outline a company with real customers, real products, and real financial mechanics-some of which move in opposite directions.

Methodology

This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
