What changed for Dte Energy Co today
DTE Energy borrowed $1bn at 6.2% on 18 June to fund long-dated obligations, pricing the junior subordinated debentures due 2058 in a single transaction that reads like a time-capsule from the high-rate era. The company’s latest 10-Q for the quarter ending 31 March 2026 shows $247m net income, $412m operating income, and $906m operating cash flow, all comfortably above the $238m of cash and cash equivalents parked on the balance sheet. The cash hoard is modest next to the $55.11bn of total assets, leaving little cushion for surprises in a rising-rate world.
DTE is Michigan’s regulated electric and gas utility, serving roughly 2.3 million electric and 1.3 million gas customers across southeast Michigan. The core business is the regulated franchise that keeps the lights on, heats homes, and-now-sells optional surge-protection devices to anxious householders. The company’s slide decks this June repeated 2026 operating earnings guidance, a practised ritual that reassures investors the lights will stay on even if the grid flickers during thunder season.
The Q1 2026 filing gives concrete numbers: net income $247.0m, operating income $412.0m, assets $55.11bn, stockholders’ equity $12.32bn, cash and equivalents $238.0m, operating cash flow $906.0m, inventories down $144.0m, diluted EPS $1.19 on 208.0m diluted shares. The filing is public on SEC EDGAR and the company’s investor site; the numbers are audited in the usual way but carry the usual caution that actual results may differ. The filing also discloses the $1bn debt raise under the same indenture that governed earlier issuances, a document heavy on covenants and light on surprises.
The company’s investor meetings on 5 and 8 June, and again on 23 June, showcased the 2026 guidance deck on its website, a slide pack that markets the regulated franchise and the bolt-on surge-protection product line. The product page promises free installation worth up to $99.99 for customers enrolling in Whole Home Surge Protection or Surge Protection Plus between 22 June and 31 August, a marketing push that converts customer anxiety into margin. The page is colourful and the image is a cosy house with a smiling family; the balance sheet is a spreadsheet with $238m of cash.
If you want a chart, DTE trades on the NYSE under the ticker DTE and the regional exchange context is secondary once the SEC filings are in hand. The company’s EDGAR index lists all filings and the company facts JSON provides the XBRL tagging, but neither source gives price levels or trading volumes-those are market plumbing, not issuer fundamentals. The SEC sources prove the numbers and the debt raise; the trading view is elsewhere.

Methodology
This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
