What changed for Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. today
Warner Bros. Discovery’s latest filing for the quarter ended 31 March 2026 shows revenue of $8.89 billion, but the net income attributable to shareholders was a hefty minus $2.92 billion, with a diluted loss per share of $1.17. That’s $2.92 billion of red ink large enough to drown a studio backlot, and the company’s operating loss of $2.47 billion explains why the cash outflow from operations was $208 million negative for the quarter. The headline numbers are ugly, but at least the asset side of the balance sheet still reads $97.84 billion, largely thanks to the scale of the combined WarnerMedia and Discovery libraries and franchises.
What WBD actually does is curate, license, and monetise a portfolio of content, brands, and franchises across television, film, streaming, and gaming, then sell advertising against it. The company’s U.S. ad sales team is currently pitching “Unbreakable” cross-platform solutions-code for a single dashboard that supposedly unifies linear and digital spend using AI. The official product rail describes it as a fluid, autonomous workflow, while the 10-Q quietly reports the cash register was running in reverse. The disconnect is deliberate marketing, not accidental arithmetic.
SEC filings show total assets of $97.84 billion against liabilities of $64.13 billion, leaving $32.58 billion of shareholders’ equity, all at 31 March 2026. Cash and equivalents stood at $3.26 billion, while net cash used in operating activities was $208 million negative. Capital expenditure for the quarter was $268 million, and the weighted average diluted share count was 2.49 billion. The 10-Q is the only primary source that matters here; every glossy press release is secondary colour.
WBD’s ad-tech summit this week showcased Scene-Level Moments, Shoppable Pause Ads, Dynamic Creative, and Agentic Experiences, all delivered via AWS infrastructure. The company claims these innovations give advertisers “the fluidity of one platform while each channel keeps its own essence.” If that sounds like feature creep on top of feature creep, the 10-Q’s operating loss of $2.47 billion suggests the customers aren’t paying enough to cover the cloud bill. The Shark Week 2026 partnership announcements, which launched on 26 July at 8 p.m. Eastern, will test whether premium brand integrations can translate into real revenue or merely into more PowerPoint.
The SEC filings provide the only audited facts. Everything else-AI demos, AWS architecture slides, upfront presentations-is marketing theatre. WBD’s operating cash outflow is a fact; the “Unbreakable” tagline is a promise. The tension is real, the evidence is sparse, and the next filing due date is the ultimate arbiter. Until then, the balance sheet is the only reliable script.
WBD’s primary filing rail is SEC EDGAR CIK 0001437107, which houses the 10-Q, 8-K, Form 4, and Schedule 13D/A referenced above. The company’s own newsroom amplifies the product narrative, but the filings dictate the numbers. The stock market, if you insist on watching it, will reflect whatever sentiment the next earnings release generates-not the AI demo.

Methodology
This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
