What changed for VERRA MOBILITY Corp today
Verra Mobility’s March 2026 quarterly filing puts revenue from contracts with customers at $223.6 million, but the cash that actually landed in the bank was $27.3 million-an eighth of the headline number. The gap between contracted revenue and recognised revenue is the first thing that leaps off the page; the second is the $8.2 million increase in inventory, which suggests the company is building stockpiles of kit it hasn’t yet sold, all while burning $31.2 million on new equipment in the same quarter. If Verra Mobility is preparing fleets for the autonomous future, the balance sheet looks stuck in the present.
Verra Mobility sells embedded mobility services to cities, toll authorities, fleets, and emerging mobility providers. Its AutoKinex™ platform processes more than 300 million toll transactions per year across seven million vehicles, a scale that sounds futuristic until you divide $27.3 million of quarterly revenue by 300 million transactions and discover each tap of the transponder is worth roughly four cents. The company’s product rails boast of “owning the connected customer journey,” yet the SEC filing quietly records most of that journey as deferred revenue rather than cash in the bank. The mismatch isn’t a bug; it’s the business model.
The 10-Q for the quarter ending 31 March 2026 shows $26.7 million of net income, $51.8 million of operating income, $46.9 million of cash and equivalents, and $272 million of shareholders’ equity. It also shows $27.3 million in recognised revenue, 153.7 million diluted shares, and an EPS of seventeen cents. Short-term investments sit at $6.1 million, while inventory rose $8.2 million. Operating cash flow was $40.8 million, but capex was $31.2 million, leaving little spare change for shareholder returns. The filing is a blunt reminder that a company can be operationally profitable and still feel financially pedestrian.
The operating story is clearer than the financial headline. Verra Mobility’s commercial and fleet solutions help fleets access toll roads and control costs; its connected vehicle services power 300 million toll transactions annually; its emerging mobility platform lets car-sharing and micro-mobility players manage transactions in one place. The government arm sells smart transportation solutions to agencies using AI-driven tools and edge-based tech. These are real products, real customers, and real scale. What remains thin is the link between that scale and the cash that lands on the balance sheet each quarter.
SEC EDGAR is the primary source for the filings cited, including 10-Q (period ending 2026-03-31), Form 4, Form 144, and 8-K disclosures from June and July 2026. The product pages and press materials corroborate the operating claims but do not supply quarterly cash recognition details or segment-level breakdowns. Until Verra Mobility publishes a 10-K with segment revenue and deferred revenue waterfalls, investors will have to infer the gap between what is sold and what is booked. The next catalyst that would truly shift the file is a quarter where recognised revenue closes within shouting distance of contracted revenue, or a clear disclosure on deferred revenue balances by segment. Methodology
This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
