What changed for Arcus Biosciences, Inc. today
Arcus Biosciences spent the first quarter of 2026 losing $128 million while booking $7 million in revenue, a cash-burn pace that would make a crypto day-trader blush. The firm lost $134 million on operations, handed shareholders a $1.02 per-share loss, and still managed to burn $138 million in operating cash. With $201 million on hand and no property, plant or equipment spending to show for it, the company is running a clinical trial empire on a shoestring and a prayer. Casdatifan, Arcus’s HIF-2α inhibitor, is the drug du jour in kidney cancer circles after three fresh collaborations were announced in July. Bristol, Summit Therapeutics and AVEO Oncology are all signing up to test casdatifan in combination regimens, hoping the molecule can outshine the current VEGF and PD-1 playbook. Enrolment for the AVEO cohort is slated to begin in Q4 2026, while Summit expects preliminary data by mid-2027. The flurry of deals is less a clinical programme and more a desperate scramble for combination partners before casdatifan’s patent clock runs down. SEC filings are doing overtime: a stack of Forms 4 and 144 filed between 12 June and 13 July shows insiders selling small tranches of stock, a routine cadence for a biotech with a ticking cash runway. The company’s cash and equivalents stood at $201 million at 31 March 2026, down from $206 million three months earlier, and the next equity raise is never far from the agenda. Shareholders are left parsing the fine print to work out who is selling and why, while the stock drifts as if the filing trail were just another Tuesday. (source: 10-Q, period ending 2026-03-31, https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1724521/000161071726000294/xslF345X06/form4.xml)
Casdatifan’s scientific halo is also expanding: a paper in Nature this month linked clinical activity to HIF-2α biology in kidney cancer patients, the first time peripheral biomarkers and tumour biology have been coherently stitched together for this drug class. The study showed deep, sustained suppression of the hormone erythropoietin after casdatifan dosing, a neat trick for a disease where hypoxia is the enemy. Whether this translates into longer survival will be the acid test. For now, RCUS is a story of cash, collaboration and clock-watching. The company’s pipeline is real, its partnerships are materialising, and its cash is melting. Whether casdatifan can turn the corner from mechanistic intrigue to clinical impact will decide if the next tranche of filings is followed by a share-price inflection rather than another equity raise. Methodology
This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
