What changed for Johnson Controls International plc today
Johnson Controls International plc just earned bragging rights at the IDEA2026 Innovation Awards for a hybrid steam-electric chiller project that slashed campus carbon at the University of Windsor, proving that even in the age of AI slide decks a well-placed chiller still wins trophies. The award is real, the project is real, and the PR machinery has already turned the win into a shimmering emblem of “energy efficiency, decarbonization, thermal management and mission-critical performance.” Yet the same filing trail stack that houses the trophy also contains the prosaic truth: revenue of $6.14bn for the quarter ended 31 March 2026, net income of $613m, and diluted EPS of $1.00 spread across 614 million shares. The polished story is one thing; the balance sheet is another.
What Johnson Controls actually does is sell products, systems and services that keep buildings warm, cool, safe and energy-smart across 150 countries. The segment split is simple: Products and Systems grew 5% while Services grew 10%, but when you strip out currency swings and divestitures the headline sales tick up only 1%. Translation: the Middle East conflicts are still disrupting supply chains, and non-recurring service projects are lumpy enough to make a CFO nervous. The company’s thermal-management chillers are now hybrid, its campus decarbonization wins are award-winning, and its data-centre mission-critical offerings are quietly powering the digital economy-yet none of this glamour changes the fact that inventories rose $140m to $1.93bn, a line item that usually invites more questions than applause.
Behind the scenes, the 10-Q for the quarter ended 31 March 2026 shows a company that is still, in the end, a business built on steel, copper and accrual accounting. Revenue clocks in at $6.14bn, net income at $613m, and diluted EPS at $1.00 on 614 million shares. Cash and cash equivalents sit at $698m, stockholders’ equity is $13.52bn, and total assets are $38.35bn. Research and development expense for the year ended 30 September 2025 was $273m, while warranty accruals climbed by $97m. These are the numbers that survive the polished sentence. The IDEA2026 award is a nice trophy, but it does not pay the R&D bill.
If you want to see how the market is reacting, the trading route is already live on TradingView under the ticker JCI; the chart is just data, not destiny. The file does not invent levels, draw lines, or pretend to know what comes next; it only points to the source and lets the reader decide. The same is true of the SEC submissions feed: the official list of filings for CIK 833444 is the single source of truth for anything that happened after the spin-off, the spin-in, or the latest Form 10-Q.
What has changed since the last filing cycle? Products and Systems sales rose 2% and Services rose 3% in the prior comparable quarter, a slower pulse than the 5% and 10% gains reported this time. Currency translation and divestitures still matter: strip them out and the math tightens. Inventories are up $140m, which could be hedging for an anticipated surge in campus decarbonization deals or merely the accounting echo of supply-chain jitters. The Value Growth Incentive Program approved on 11 May 2026 is a management desks carrot, not a cash register. The IDEA2026 award is a public relations win with no direct line to the income statement. The evidence we have is real; the interpretation is yours.

Methodology
This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
