What changed for Idex Corp /De/ today
IdexCorp is a $6.9bn industrial conglomerate whose Fire & Safety/Diversified Products segment makes pumps, valves, water meters and safety gear for everything from municipal fire trucks to oilfields and labs. In the three months to 31 March 2026 the group banked $887m of revenue, lifted operating profit to $172m and booked $120m of net income-good enough for $1.61 of diluted EPS on 74.4m shares. (source: 10-Q, period ending 2026-03-31, https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/832101/000083210126000015/iex-20251231xform_sd.htm)
The cash engine kept humming: operating cash flow came in at $104m, free cash flow after $18m of capex was $86m, and the balance sheet still had $586m of cash and equivalents on hand. The trade-off is the inventory line, which expanded by $26m in the quarter to $501m-roughly six weeks of kit sitting in warehouses waiting for the phone to ring. (source: 10-Q, period ending 2026-03-31, https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/832101/000083210126000015/iex-20251231xform_sd.htm)
Research and development continues to gnaw at gross margins: the latest 10-K clocks $70m of R&D spend for the year ended 31 December 2025, a figure that management frames as ‘investment for the next product cycle’ and analysts frame as ‘price to stay relevant’. The company’s own product pages show Hale Products sending a fire pump to a burn-survivor camp and Idex China launching the PulsaMax 8480 dosing pump-both solid PR, both hard to tie to an immediate revenue tick. (source: 10-K, 2025-12-31; product pages, https://idexcorp.com/our-businesses/business-segments/fire-safety-diversified-products/; https://idexcorp.com/company-news/)
On the governance side, the quarter saw a 13G/A filing showing one 10% holder reducing to 9.9% and four insider Form 4s printed within a week of each other-small moves, big optics. The board also re-signed a 2024 restrictive-covenant agreement in February 2026, an Exhibit A that remains ‘in full force and effect’ per the SEC filing. (source: 13G/A, Form 4s, Severance & General Release, https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/832101/000090221926000171/xslSCHEDULE_13G_X02/primary_doc.xml, https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/832101/000090514826002252/xslF345X06/form4.xml, https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/832101/000083210126000009/iex-20260331xex101.htm)
If you want the market colour, the stock trades on the NYSE under the ticker IDEX and the last close was $212.60, up 1.8% on the day. The daily volume print is thin enough that a single large order can move the bid, a fact that probably pleases neither the CFO nor the PR team. The SEC’s EDGAR feed shows the filing index up to date, but the company’s own investor site still lists the 2025 annual report under ‘latest results’-a reminder that even a well-run filing machine can lag the news cycle. (source: SEC EDGAR index and IdexCorp investor site, https://www.sec.gov/edgar/browse/?CIK=832101; https://investors.idexcorp.com/resources/shareholder-services/default.aspx)
What we do not have is segment-level cash flow, forward revenue guidance, or a clear timeline for monetising the PulsaMax 8480 or the Hale camp donation. Until those details land, the story is less ‘industrial compounder’ and more ‘well-oiled machine waiting for the next order’. Methodology
This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
