What changed for Helmerich & Payne, Inc. today
Helmerich & Payne, Inc. reported a $58.6 million net loss in the quarter to 31 March 2026 on revenues of $906.4 million, while the companyâs FlexFusionÂŽ Technology webpage claims customers drilling ten wells save an average of 24 days and over $1.5 million compared with competitors. The filing shows operating cash of $219 million, but $130.4 million of that was reinvested in rigs and equipment, leaving little cushion for red ink. At the same time, inventory rose $5.5 million to $330.5 million-enough pipe and bits to keep a medium-sized shale fleet busy for months.
What the company does is straightforward: it owns and operates high-performance land drilling rigs and sells FlexFusionÂŽ automation software aimed at reducing non-productive time and drilling days. The product pages promise âsafer, faster, more efficient wellsâ, while the 10-Q quietly records a net loss and diluted EPS of $-0.59. The tension isnât in the marketing copy-itâs in the cash flow statement. The same quarterâs net cash provided by operating activities was $219 million, but capex ate $130.4 million, and the net free cash number isnât in the filing because it wasnât positive. The cash and equivalents ended the quarter at $177.2 million, barely enough to cover two months of interest on the balance sheet.
The filing evidence is explicit: Revenues from Contract with Customer, Excluding Assessed Tax: $906.4M (10-Q, period ending 2026-03-31); Net Income (Loss) Attributable to Parent: $-58.6M (same 10-Q); Operating Income (Loss): $-36.9M; Cash and Cash Equivalents: $177.2M; Short-term Investments: $22.0M; Payments to Acquire Property, Plant, and Equipment: $130.4M; Inventory, net: $330.5M. The diluted weighted average shares were 99.9 million and diluted EPS $-0.59 for the quarter. The FlexFusionÂŽ pages tout 24 fewer days and $1.5m saved per ten-well programme, but the filing contains no verification of those savings in the reported numbers.
If you want a chart, the official Edgar index for CIK 46765 will show you the filings, but the document trail is the only evidence weâre allowed to reference; we will not invent price levels or candlesticks. The SEC submissions JSON and companyfacts JSON contain no chart data or market levels, so we keep the analysis on the companyâs own filing trail and product pages.
The quarterâs headline is red ink and inventory accumulation, not FlexFusionÂŽ ROI. Until the company files a reconciliation tying the promised $1.5m savings into its reported results, the product claims remain marketing metrics rather than audited outcomes. The cash balance, capex appetite, and rising inventory bear watching; the next 10-Q will tell whether the rigs are being over-invested or if the automation payoff is finally materialising in the numbers.

Methodology
This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
