What changed for Six Flags Entertainment Corporation/NEW today
Six Flags Entertainment Corporation/NEW used its own steel to lift the first purple beam of Project Purple Image at Six Flags Great Adventure last week, giving the internet another ride-height meme to loop ad infinitum; in the same seven days the company’s 10-Q for the quarter ending 28 March 2026 showed operating losses widening to $312.2 million and a net loss attributable to the parent of $268.6 million, with cash from operations draining $83.2 million. The parks are still selling tickets, but the corporate ledger is buying tickets to a different show.
Six Flags remains North America’s largest regional amusement park operator, running 21 parks, safaris and water parks across the United States, Mexico and Canada. The group’s marquee brands-Six Flags Great Adventure, Carowinds, and Mexico’s Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec-are in the middle of multi-year capex programmes that include new coasters, water rides and accessibility upgrades aimed at widening the guest funnel. The company markets its properties as “Select Your Property,” and the website even lets you sort by park, hotel or water park, all while the holding company’s diluted earnings per share sit at minus $2.65. The customer experience is still thrilling; the equity story is still bruised.
Filings confirm revenues of $225.6 million for the quarter, inventory up $9.8 million to $71.5 million, and total assets of $7.71 billion against shareholders’ equity of just $279.2 million. The cash balance at quarter-end was $116.5 million, giving management roughly one quarter of one coaster’s steel budget to keep the lights on while it finishes the next attraction. Weighted diluted shares outstanding stood at 101.5 million, so the loss per share is a brute-force maths problem rather than a rounding error. (source: SEC EDGAR 10-Q for the quarter ended 2026-03-29, https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1999001/000199900126000079/fun-10q20260329.htm)
On 2 July 2026 the company announced Mark Pauls as incoming COO, effective 15 July 2026, replacing an executive who helped integrate the Cedar Fair acquisition; the release is sprinkled with the usual forward-looking language but contains no fresh financial guidance or liquidity commitments. The only concrete metric on the day was the continued absence of a dividend and the presence of another $300 million-sized loss. The board’s new executive hire is the latest polishing gesture; the balance sheet is still waiting for a real renovation.
SEC submissions show the company’s Form 3, 4 and 8-K traffic remains steady, but none of the insider filings to date discloses any director or officer buying shares; the absence is louder than the presence. The company’s own product pages-Select Your Property, Legacy of Water Rides at Carowinds, and Accessibility at Carowinds-still trade in aspirational images rather than audited cash-flow statements. The images are pleasant, the numbers are not.
Six Flags still teases new coasters, water-park expansions and accessibility improvements, but the filing trail makes clear the group is operating on a cash runway measured in single-digit quarters. Until the next park-level cash inflow or a material equity injection arrives, the ride continues while the company’s equity narrative remains firmly in the red zone.

Methodology
This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
