What changed for Dycom Industries Inc today
Dycom Industries just reported contract revenues of $1.965bn for its fiscal 2027 first quarter, up 56.1% versus the prior year and 24.7% organically, according to the company’s own press release. The filing shows adjusted EBITDA of $262.5m, or 13.4% of revenues-numbers that look tidy until you notice operating cash flow was a negative $24.6m in the same period. That gap is the beating heart of Dycom’s business: it bills big, collects slowly, and keeps its heavy assets off its own balance sheet, leaving investors to wonder which side of the ledger is actually doing the lifting.
What Dycom actually does is wireline and wireless construction, project management, network design, and locating services for underground utilities across North America. Its website and investor materials are awash with hard-hat hero shots, geospatial engineering banners, and promises to ‘connect America through safe and innovative solutions.’ In practice, Dycom acts as the general contractor for telecom build-outs, coordinating crews, sourcing materials, and billing carriers while subcontracting most of the physical work. The glossy product pages show excavators, fibre splices, and locate technicians, but the cash-flow page shows something far less photogenic: $538.8m of cash on hand against $4.28bn of liabilities, a balance-sheet recipe that invites comparisons to a well-dressed subcontractor with a revolving line of credit.
SEC filings for the quarter ending 2 May 2026 show contract revenue of $1.96bn, net income of $91.3m, and diluted EPS of $3.00 on 30.4m shares. Assets clock in at $6.18bn versus liabilities of $4.28bn, giving shareholders $1.90bn of equity on paper but a far thinner cushion in cash-just $538.8m-while operating cash flow leaked $24.6m. Capital expenditure for the quarter was $70.3m, and inventory of conduit and related materials grew to $143.3m. Adjusted EBITDA was $262.5m, or 13.4% of revenues, while the cash story remains stubbornly in deficit. Dycom’s proxy and 8-K filings remind readers that the board’s incentive plan can still issue up to 2% of the float in stock, a latent dilution lever that the earnings script does not foreground.
For context, the company’s product pages and service rails lay out the full range of offerings-wireline and wireless construction, project management, network design, locating, maintenance, and restoration-illustrated with banner images of hard-hat crews and fibre-optic splices. Those pages prove Dycom’s operational footprint and its brand promise, not the depth of its cash pile or the durability of its margins. The evidence does not include granular contract backlogs, customer concentration, or segment-level cash-flow statements, so any assumption that the 56% year-on-year revenue surge translates into commensurate cash generation remains, at best, a working hypothesis rather than a proved fact.
There is no TradingView route supplied in the evidence list, so we will not invent share-price levels or technical commentary. The relevant source rail is Dycom’s own SEC filings, press releases, and product pages, which collectively describe a construction management business whose growth is real, whose cash conversion is not, and whose balance sheet wears its liabilities more visibly than its high-visibility vest. If future filings disclose segment-level cash flows, contract maturities, or customer concentration, the file can be deepened accordingly.

Methodology
This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
