What changed for REX Drone ETF today
The REX Drone ETF (DRNZ) has surged 12% since its July 2025 launch, according to Nasdaq data, buoyed by hype around commercial drone deliveries and military contracts. Yet the fund’s holdings reveal a gap between its futuristic marketing and its actual exposure: its top three positions are in Amazon, Lockheed Martin, and Honeywell, companies whose drone operations are either nascent or a small slice of broader operations.
DRNZ’s mandate allows it to invest in firms ‘engaged in the drone ecosystem,’ but its modified market cap weighting means it’s heavily skewed toward large, established players rather than pure-play drone innovators. The ETF charges a 0.55% expense ratio, which FINRA’s Fund Analyzer flags as above average for thematic ETFs, though not egregious for a niche fund.
Recent filings show DRNZ added two new holdings in Q2 2026: a Canadian drone software firm and a UK-based manufacturer of industrial drones. However, the SEC’s EDGAR database shows the fund still holds over 40% in companies where drones represent less than 10% of revenue. Liquidity remains a concern: its average daily trading volume is just 500 shares, making large trades difficult without impacting the price.
Chart watchers note DRNZ has traded in a tight range between $24.50 and $26.20 since March, with no clear breakout despite sector optimism. The ETF’s tracking difference-a measure of how closely it follows its benchmark index-stood at 0.92% in June, per its monthly report, indicating minor but consistent lagging.
What’s unproven? Whether DRNZ can attract enough inflows to improve liquidity, whether its broad mandate will dilute its thematic appeal, and whether its top holdings will ever meaningfully scale their drone operations. A material shift in drone regulations or a surge in AUM above $100 million would test its structure.

Methodology
This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
