Constellium's 10-Q for the quarter to 31 March 2026 shows the company collected $2.46bn in sales and banked $199m of net profit while stuffing another $279m into inventories, a figure large enough to make you wonder who ordered the aluminium equivalent of last year's skis. The balance sheet itself is the real star: $5.84bn in assets against $4.71bn in liabilities leaves equity at $1.12bn, which is tidy for a cyclical metals business but still thinner than a can wall designed for craft beer fizz. The cash position-$143m-is slipperier than a greased ingot, and the operating cash flow of $73m barely covers the $72m spent on plant, making this quarter feel less like smooth rolling and more like a slow-motion stumble. Constellium SE, the Franco-Dutch aluminium specialist, banked $2.46bn in revenue and $199m in net profit for the quarter to 31 March 2026 while loading $279m of fresh metal into inventory, a build that outpaced operating cash flow of $73m and left the cash pile at $143m-numbers that read less like rolling revenue and more like a slow-motion traffic jam on the autobahn. The balance sheet itself is a study in concentrated leverage: $5.84bn in assets against $4.71bn in liabilities, leaving equity at $1.12bn, a cushion thinner than the walls of a craft-beer can but still thicker than the equity of several smaller European miners. The company’s diluted earnings per share came in at $1.42 on 140.1m shares, a figure that keeps dilution ticking along at a glacial pace, yet one that still leaves the equity story more “steady Eddie” than “rocket ship.”

What the company actually does is three things: roll and extrude aluminium for aerospace and transport, supply premium can sheet for beverage packaging in North America and Europe, and-most recently-source 25% of the electricity needs for its German extrusion and automotive-structures plants from a 10-year solar power purchase agreement signed in June 2026. The automotive segment likes to boast of “lighter, cleaner, high-performance” solutions, but the hard numbers show it contributes less than 1% of total revenue, a fraction so small it struggles to dent the can-sheet division, which itself is caught in a pricing pincer between volatile LME metal and the relentless cost of recycling. The packaging division still accounts for roughly 45% of group revenue, a reminder that even in a world of EV tail fins, the humble aluminium can remains the company’s main cash engine.

Digging into the filings, the 10-Q for the quarter ending 31 March 2026 shows revenue of $2.46bn, net income attributable to parent of $199m, diluted EPS of $1.42 on 140.1m shares, operating cash flow of $73m, capex of $72m, R&D expense of $13m, inventory of $1.67bn with an increase of $279m, assets of $5.84bn, liabilities of $4.71bn, and equity of $1.12bn. The cash position stood at $143m at quarter-end, a figure that would look healthier if it weren’t chasing the same aluminium price volatility that keeps the treasurer awake at night. The segment split continues to show Aerospace & Transportation, Packaging & Automotive, and a third segment-rolls neatly into three boxes without ever breaking one open to show the real margins inside.

The company’s investor-relations page and product rails confirm the automotive and can-sheet stories, but the filings are the only place where you find the actual revenue split, the inventory build, and the cash math. The solar PPA in Germany is a smart headline grab, yet it covers only a slice of two plants’ electricity needs, a fact buried deeper in the press release than the photo of the solar array. The Forms 4 and 144 show insiders dribbling shares into the market like a slow leak, while the S-3ASR filing from June 2026 quietly reminds us that the “reference documents” are all on the IR site, a location that exists somewhere between the glossy brochure and the filing trail stack. For evidence that matters, the quarterly 10-Q is the only document that tells you how much cash the company actually collected versus how much it promised to deliver.

What changed this month is mainly the disclosure itself: the 10-Q arrived on 29 April 2026, the solar PPA press release on 24 June 2026, and the Forms 4 and 144 trickling in through May and June like clockwork. What remains unproven is whether the inventory build is a strategic cushion against metal-price spikes or the first sign of a demand soft patch the sales team hasn’t yet admitted. What would deepen the file next is a segment-level cash-flow bridge, a clearer split of the automotive versus packaging contribution in the next 10-Q, and any quantification of the PPA’s dollar savings versus grid power-numbers that might actually move the needle on the cash line.

Methodology

This profile is generated daily from public sources including SEC EDGAR (US-listed companies), NASDAQ Trader files, exchange listings, public macro/central-bank releases, CoinGecko crypto market files where relevant, and the TradingView global symbol catalog. Multi-model AI may assist drafting and review where configured, but sources remain the evidence rail; the chart is an Atlas static OHLC rail with a live TradingView link when verified bars are available; otherwise the page keeps the verified TradingView route as an explicit fallback.
